On 06 Dec 2011, in response to the raging anti-gay movement in Africa against the small gay minority by the religious people of faith in particular the Anglicans, Methodists, and Pentecostals, the US Secretary of State declared in the UN that:-

“Like being a woman, like being a racial religious tribal or ethnic minority, being LGBT does not make you less human. And that is why gay rights are Human Rights and Human Rights are gay rights.”

“Well, in reality, gay people are born into and belong to every society in the world. They are all ages, all races, all faiths; they are doctors and teachers, farmers and bankers, soldiers and athletes, and whether we know it or whether we acknowledge it, they are our family, our friends and our neighbors.”

“Some believe homosexuality is a Western phenomenon… but gay people belong to every society in the world…. Being gay is not a Western invention, it is a human reality.”

The anti-gay bill in Nigeria is aptly called "Kill Gay" bill with its hideous statute of 14 years of jail for having a gay marriage/relationship, and 10 years of jail for people who witness/supports this union. All these laws signed in by a religious people of faith.

Also hidden from view is the failure of foreign aid due to rampant corruption of her leaders. We are reminded of Mat 7:16 of the bitter fruits of hate, crime, and theft.  They are now putting all their sins on the head of the gay gentle lambs to be sacrificed.

The UK prime minister has made a similar stand linking gay rights to aid. Nigeria, Ghana and Uganda have reacted with strong indgination against the US statement and linkage of the US Aid to the issue of basic attrocities against human rights.

It is a national and religious right of Christians in Africa if they want to have kill gay bills. However, by supporting these countries through external aid, we can be a party to their crimes.

The US are not innocent either as the Christian Right in America with the likes of "the Family ( "the fellowship")", and Lou Engle of "the Call" was the main instigator of the draconian anti-gay laws. The link to Singapore is not too distant with Lou Engle being the Prophet to Che Ann, who was the key note speaker in the Festival of Praise in Singapore. They are birthing a religiously inspired anti-gay movement in Africa to come against the rising morality in Western Countries to do no harm and to refrain from injustice against gays.

The Singapore connection is all too obvious with the Singapore Anglican Archbishop John Chew Hiang Cheah being also the head of the Global South Anglican. This organization is one of the main impetus behind the religious anti-gay movement in Africa. Achrbishop Chew is also the head of the National Council of Churches in Singapore which includes all the mega churches.

The US is right to link any support to adequate basic human rights. If human rights are not respected as a policy then it is rather hypocritical to talk about asking for large sums aid to alleviate human suffering. This is particularly so when billions have been stolen by the corrupt African leaders. It's not about promoting gay rights rather not joining in the paths of sinners perpetuated by the majority religious people of faith in Africa.

It is a right of US and UK to take away aid just as it is a right for these countries to kill their gay citizens. Consider the following US Aid to the Nigeria, Uganda, Ghana, and Tanzania:-

Uganda - USD 480 million

Nigeria - USD 647 million

Ghana - USD 174 million

Tanzania - USD 549 million 

If the Christian Right in the US and GAFCON were so keen to perpetuate these crimes against the gay community, then they should come out with the billions in support. They can't have it both ways especially when US and UK have huge budget deficits. Since the Africans are insisting on their selfish rights, the US has no moral obligation to provide Aid.

Sojourners have called for a moral budget but it would be immoral to spend on self righteous indignant people who are insisting on their rights to cause harm whilst demanding aid.

It may not even be about Aid but about AIDS, whereby the persecution of the gay community will lead them further underground thus limiting any safe sex outreach. The harm that we sow in the gay community will come back ten fold in a rapid rise of infection in the straight community.

The "Kill Gay" bill by religious people of faith in Africa will end up killing many more Africans either in lost aid or a rise in HIV infection. At the end, the Gospel will suffer. They will continue to be a dark continent ravaged by violence, crime, dieases, famine, and poverty even though Christianity is becoming the predominant faith. God does not fully honor our praises when our hands lifted up and filled with dripping blood of the innocent. For Jesus will unlikely hear our prayers and praises above the cry of gays against our wickedness.

Let us seek God and refrain from causing harm if we do indeed call ourselves and our faith as a faith of peace, love, and goodwill.  May God help us. May God save us.
